Nerds are like weapons they wound sometimes...

Cher has recently decided to make another comeback attempt, but instead of new material she decided to reuse one of her earlier songs. She hired a cheap songwriter and told him to re-write the words to make it appeal to a modern audience.

Cher felt that a song about a guy whose girlfriend left him because his inept Information Technology skills allowed her computer to be hacked would appeal to a younger audience. Her producers disagreed, and laughing, the comeback song lyrics were rejected.

A scrap of paper found on a recording studio floor reveals these lyrics as her material for a second comeback try.

"I'd do a cy-ber-crime"

I'd do a cy-ber-crime
If I could find a way
I would hack those Nerds that hurt you and you'd stay

I don't know why they did the things they did
I don't know why they spread the things they spread
Mal-ware is rife -  it can cut deep inside
Nerds are like weapons they wound sometimes.

They didn't really mean to hurt you
I didn't wanna let you know
I know I made you cry, but baby

[Chorus:]
I'd do a cy-ber-crime
If I could find a way
I would hack those Nerds that hurt you
And you'd stay
If I could teach those czars
I'd hack them all for you
Then you'd love me, love me
Like you used to do

I'd do a cy-ber-crime

My world was shattered I was torn apart
Like someone took a knife and drove it deep in my heart
You walked out that door I swore that I didn't care
But I lost everything darling 'cept my swi-vel chair

Too strong to tell you I was sorry
Too proud to tell you I was wrong
I know that I was blind, and ooh...

[Chorus]

Ooohh

I'd do a cy-ber-crime
I'd do a cy-ber-crime
I'd do a cy-ber-crime
ooh baby

They didn't really mean to hurt you
I didn't want to let you know
I know I made you cry
Ooohh

[Chorus #2]
I'd do a cy-ber-crime
If I could find a way
I would hack those Nerds that hurt you
If I could teach those czars
I'd hack them all for you
Then you'd love me, love me
Like you used to do

I'd do a cy-ber-crime (cy-ber-crime)
If I could find a way (find a way)
Then baby, maybe, maybe
You'd stay

[to fade]
Hack those czars
If I could teach those czars
