back to satire

Not many people know that the first draft of Jan and Dean's Drag City was really focused on the dog show scene.

A suggested change was made, and the rest was history.

[Short introduction by Dean Torrence]
And sometimes, if you wrecked a car or two on
dead man's curve, and maybe you got in trouble with the local,
local police, sometimes you get more organized and you
take your car where there was a bunch of cars
and a straightaway and that's when we would head for a
great place called drag city...

Wag City
Jan Berry, Dean Torrence
Jan and Dean

Burn up that show-off aisle

Just trained my pet, reward her with meals
A-lookin' real tough with her choke-collar heels
A Big Brush comb job sure looks pretty
Gonna get my pet and make it out to Wag City

Chorus:
Yeah I'm goin' to Wag City (run her through, now)
Goin' to Wag City (what'll she do now)
Goin' to Wag City (run her through, now)
Goin' to Wag City (what'll she do now)
Burn up that show-off aisle

The DJ's sayin' on my favorite station
The Wag City judges are the fairest in the nation
Grooms are the wildest and the walkers look pretty
I'll get my honey, grab some money, split to Wag City

Chorus:
Well I'm goin' to Wag City (run her through, now)
Goin' to Wag City (what'll she do now)
Goin' to Wag City (run her through, now)
Goin' to Wag City (what'll she do now)
Burn up that show-off aisle

'Round the Wagway loud howels fill the air
The final teams preppin' up and action everywhere
Ribbon tags, hind-leg stands, sure sounds pretty
To hear the cheers, bring your shears out to Wag City

Chorus
Well, I'm goin' to Wag City (run her through, now)
Goin' to Wag City (what'll she do now)
Goin' to Wag City (run her through, now)
Goin' to Wag City (what'll she do now)
Burn up that show-off aisle
Burn up that show-off aisle

Listen to 'em whine
(whine, whine, whine)
